If our deepest desires clash with the moral codes we've always known, can we find a way to reconcile our passions with our faith? A girl named Iris, living in a small Estonian village in the mid-20th century, who has spent her entire life in a religious environment, discovers her passion for material beauty. At one point, she commits a petty theft and inevitably, she experiences an inner conflict. Reflecting on everything she knew about Christianity, God, and morality, the question arises. What place does her love for material beauty and desire for passion have within the dogmas imposed by knowledge? A boy named Knut, another important character in the story, grew up in a complicated family with a cruel and tyrannical father. Despite maintaining love for his mother, he is tormented by accumulated emotions due to all the cruelty he has experienced. Upon meeting Iris's poor family, he finds a way to release his anger.
