Just Film, the largest sub-festival of the Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival (PÖFF), dedicated to youth and children’s cinema, is now accepting submissions. Filmmakers from around the world are invited to submit feature films, animations, and documentaries that speak to young audiences and are ready for theatrical presentation in November 2026.
The festival continues its mission to champion bold, diverse storytelling and to bring inspiring cinematic experiences to young audiences on the big screen. Founded to give children and youth a deeper understanding of the world around them through film, Just Film highlights stories that engage with socially relevant and sensitive topics, fostering empathy, awareness, and critical thinking. With a long-term vision of nurturing a new generation of viewers who value high-quality cinema, the festival promotes film as a powerful catalyst for social and human change. The 26th edition of Just Film will take place from 6–22 November 2026.
Just Film presents films in the following programmes:
• International Competition programme of youth feature films
• International Competition programme of children’s feature films
• International Competition programme of junior films
• #youngfilmmaker International Competition programme
• Non-competitive and/or informative programmes, retrospectives, and special presentations
Films eligible for the programmes are feature-length (50 minutes and over), either fiction or documentary, and short films (up to 20 minutes in our #youngfilmmaker programme). The feature films must be produced after 1st of January 2026, and after 1st of September 2025 for the #youngfilmmaker programme. The minimum requirement for the films is their International premiere.
**The regular submissions deadline for Just Film is 29 June 2026. The extended deadline is 17 August, and the final deadline is 24 August 2026 respectively. **
