These and many other questions can now be answered by Susi, the AI wolf on the PÖFF website, who helps people quickly find films that match their interests and preferences from over 500 titles—an extraordinary opportunity to discover films through your own taste.
"People have always complained that the PÖFF program is so big that it’s hard to find the right films—it takes too much time. Our Susi solves this problem—it's a completely new way to engage the audience by approaching each person individually," said Mikk Granström, a member of the PÖFF board and the creator of the Susi AI concept.
According to Granström, Susi also brings the joy of discovery and helps attract a curious, younger audience to the festival.
PÖFF is the first film festival in the world to introduce AI as a film recommender.
"This means that we are setting an example: our Susi is not just a search tool but an interactive companion, which is why we no longer call it simply artificial intelligence, but audience intelligence," added Granström.
Another key aspect is that Susi AI can communicate in all languages, making PÖFF even more accessible on an international level.
Susi AI’s functionality also extends to PÖFF's film industry events, Industry@Tallinn & Baltic Event, and Just Film Industry Days, helping people involved in or interested in the film industry find suitable masterclasses, workshops, panel discussions, or other relevant events.
PÖFF developed Susi AI in collaboration with software developer Acty.
Just Film will take place this year from November 8th to 24th.
