Just Film Industry Days is preparing for another edition, save the dates for 21-22 November!
For this year’s edition, Just Film Industry Days continues riding on a youthful wave, with an eye towards international and educational expansion. Our dates are 21-22 November 2024 and the place continues to be the magical winter wonderland of Tallinn, Estonia—probably the only place on planet Earth where you can talk business while swimming in the icy Baltic Sea.
Our programme is designed with the needs of industry professionals, aspiring filmmakers, and film educators in mind.
A notable highlight we can already share is the three-year partnership with KIDS Regio to create a ground for new networking opportunities and find ways to bring children and youth filmmakers together. With KIDS Regio, we take the networking to a new level with our newest evening event format: “The Fuck Up Night”, where failures meet solutions, emphasizing the importance of learning from mistakes and moving forward wiser. Because what connects people more than seeing others fail, too!
KIDS Regio will also be sharing the results of Europe-wide research, “Keeping up with children as an audience”, providing important insights into the viewing habits of kids aged 7-11.
Something we are very excited about is our newest update - we’ve launched a children’s and youth film category in the Baltic Event’s Co-Production Market. We’ll be looking for full-length features, documentaries, and animations, with special attention given to projects incorporating AI in their process. This year’s market also reintroduces the Eurimages Co-Production Development Award, and films in the children’s and youth film category will also be in competition for the award. The Eurimages Co-Production Development Award includes a non-reimbursable subsidy of 20,000€ for feature-length fiction, animation, and documentary films, which must be used exclusively to cover the development expenses of the co-production project.
We are expanding our educational section for teachers, aiming to integrate film and filmmaking into the fabric of schools and student life by not just a one time day event, but by a well-curated series of lectures and workshops throughout the year.
The next generation is always on our minds @Just Film, whether it’s including young people in our programming team or giving out scholarships to inspire school kids to make films and then show them at the festival. During the industry events, we try to find ways to push the youth’s interest in films and filmmaking, but also find opportunities for mentorships and offer an insight to the “backstage” of the industry.
Submissions for Just Film Works in Progress (youth and children’s projects) open in August, and we’ve made some updates for this section as well. We will present 7-8 international projects for a pitching session in November. In addition to full-length features, we actively seek documentaries and animations geared toward children, youth, and young adults..
Much more is in the works, so check our socials for updates @just.film.industry.days
Accreditation details will be announced soon.
